iCare Foodbank Commemorates 9th Anniversary, 2025 WFD With Food Distribution To 1000 Houses

In commemoration of the 2025 World Food Day (WFD) which coincided with its 9th anniversary, the iCare Foodbank, an initiative of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has launched a drive to feed 1000 households in Ikorodu.

To achieve this, the foodbank has called on members of the public to nominate someone or themselves for the food packs which distribution comes up on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The initiative targets vulnerable families, the elderly, widows, and the physically challenged across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Since the creation of the iCare Food Bank nine years ago, thousands of households have been fed across Ikorodu Division.

According to iCare Foundation, the organisers of the monthly food distribution, nomination closes 8pm on Thursday, 16th October, 2025.

“As the world marks International Food Day on October 16th, to raise awareness about global hunger, food security, and the importance of nutrition, the iCare Foundation proudly continues its commitment to ending hunger through the iCare Food Bank, an initiative of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR.

“In commemoration of this year’s International Food Day and the 9th Anniversary of the iCare Food Bank, the October 2025 Edition of the monthly food distribution exercise has a focus of distributiing 1,000 ‘Apo Ă€nu’ (Mercy Bags) to 1,000 households across Ikorodu Division, a special gesture of gratitude, compassion, and community impact.

“Members of the public are, hereby, invited to nominate someone within the Ikorodu Division, who is genuinely in need, particularly elderly persons, widows, or physically challenged individuals, to benefit from this month’s special distribution.

“We trust your sincerity and judgment in helping us reach those who are truly in need. All nominations will be carefully vetted based on the stated criteria and other considerations”, the organisers said in a statement.
